The Studio Tool
I was given this Swiss Army Knife (the red one pictured here) on my seventh birthday. Now 30 years later, it’s navigated 21 moves across three states with me from the East Coast to the West, with a run-in with a puppy’s curious teeth somewhere in the middle.
It currently lives in the tool drawer at Moondust Labs—my specialty still-life photo studio in Bend, Oregon—and gets used daily while I’m creating my photography work.
To pay homage to this reliable companion, I designed The Studio Tool, a functional instrument to aid in your own projects. It is a representation of durability and longevity, of persistence over time, of the “good work built to last” that I strive to achieve at Moondust Labs through thoughtful approaches to creative problems. Please enjoy.
This is the real deal Victorinox Swiss Army knife, and will last you a lifetime too. May it scratch and patina and live on with you for decades to come.
